After many years of build up, Venom Inc finally hit the shores of Australia, with thanks to Hardline Media.
As people shuffled in to the Manning Bar, making their their way to purchase their merch and grab a coldy from the bar, local favourites, MurderWorld took to the stage to warm up the nights events. They brought with them a lineup change, giving the band a whole new sound and feel. Considering there weren't many people in the venue at this time, MurderWorld played as if they were performing to a crowded room.
From the barrier, where I had taken up residence, I could clearly hear the savage poundings from Zac (Attack) Sales, Australia's Dave Lombardo.. Yes, I called it! Unfortunately, I couldn't hear much else and was forced to move to the back of the room, to get the full MurderWorld experience.
Melbournes Desecrator up next, with more people making their way in to the venue.
Desecrator played an energetic set, which included great crowd interaction.
Newcomer Anthony J Finch on guitars, slipped in comfortably, as if he'd been in the band from the beginning. Desecrator took us "To The Gallows", keeping us suspended for the duration of their set.
The room darkened, the backdrop of Baphomets lit up in red, and the haunting music began, letting everyone know it was time for the much anticipated Venom Inc, to hit the stage.
Opening with Avé Satanas, from the album "Avé". Demolition Man, Mantas and Abaddon moved on to welcome us to Hell. Demolition Man announcing "we are all here for the same reason", before belting out the brutally aggressive Metal We Bleed, 3rd track from "Avé".
Mantis' guitar playing in Live Like an Angel (Die Like A Devil) had me mesmerized, I threw my horns up in his face, to which he retorted which a cheeky smile.
The crowd participation for Warhead was moving, quite literally. Everyone on the floor chanting along, pushing their way to get closer to the pioneers of extreme metal. Many favourites enjoyed by the loyal fans, including Blackened Are the Priests, Poison, Black Metal, Countess Bathory and many more, with Abaddon jumping up from behind his kit, between songs, to let out a mighty "Fuck Yeah"!
The encore saw the true Godfathers of the genre, return to the stage and finish the show, with an apt Sons Of Satan.
Abaddon grabbed his bottle of Jack Daniels, and walked to the front of the stage, where he generously poured the contents down the thirsty throats of fans.
The crowd cheered and showed their adoration and appreciation for the show that was put on before them. Regardless of age, these veterans were full of energy and power and performed one HELL of a great show.
