Daemon Pyre announce new drummer Simon O'Malley

September 1, 2017

Sydney's leading melodic death metal monsters Daemon Pyre have some exciting news to bring forth this month with Simon "Socks" O'Malley joining the ranks as the bands new tub thumper. After previously serving time in To The Grave, O'Malley brings some fresh life to the group after the departure of Nathan Crofts last year.

Vocalist Sam Rilatt had this to say about the addition of their new drummer “The search to replace Nathan has been an arduous one! We’ve spent months and months auditioning, whilst we continued to tour with the help of some great drummers from around the country. Given the caliber of our session guys, the bar was set so high, and it’s exciting that we can now formally welcome Socks to the band and it serves as proof of just how perfect a fit he is. His winning attitude, combined with his monster drum style and technique, plus a sincere passion for everything to do with drumming meant that he is absolutely the right choice for us moving forward.”

Further to this, Daemon Pyre were recently added to the Sydney leg of the upcoming Kreator/Vader tour. The much-lauded tour has now been solidified and fans can expect a full throttle show from top to bottom. The band are also excited to announce a three-show headlining weekender in November taking in Canberra, Geelong and Melbourne as well as appearing at the Stigmata Productions 15th Anniversary show in Sydney.

Behind the scenes, the bands creative forces have been working over-time on material for their new album. It has been confirmed that world-renowned producer Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Behemoth) will be working with Daemon Pyre on the album which is sure to push the band further forward, off the back of their amazing 2015 self-titled debut. Be sure to catch Daemon Pyre playing live near you over the coming months, and be prepared as their monstrous, evolving sound gathers momentum to crush all in its wake.
