"Linkin Park changed me. They changed many of us. They showed us that it was okay to be angry, sad, depressed; to feel rage. Chester ushered in a new generation of heavy music fans, and allowed us to connect with that which lives inside us on a deeper level."
So says the man behind the upcoming event, 'A Night to Celebrate Chester Bennington', Nathaniel Patterson, on the tribute night set down for August 5 at Brisbane's Crowbar.
It is a night that not only pays homage and tribute to the late Bennington, but also celebrates his life and achievements with a selection of bands striving to keep the flame of his memory burning.
The night will be headlined by Brisbane band Cure for the Itch, comprising members of Bayharbour, Rare Words and Arrivals, performing Linkin Park songs, as well as local legends Inovo and Outlive with former Cairns thrash metal merchants Odius making their long awaited Brisbane debut.
Tickets are $12 plus b.f presale or $15 on the door and can be purchased through www.crowbarbris.com
Doors open at 8 p.m with first band on stage at 8.30 p.m.
"This event is a celebration of Chester," Patterson finished, "by having bands that were either directly or indirectly inspired by him and Linkin Park perform in tribute to him."
All proceeds will be donated to Beyondblue to support suicide prevention.
