SAFE HANDS RETURN WITH NEW LP + NEW VIDEO
'Tie Your Soul To Mine' Out September 23
Novacastrian quintet SAFE HANDS will release their expansive second LP 'Tie Your Soul To Mine' on September 23, via Lost Boy Records. Having drip-fed information to fans over the past few months, today they unveil a new video and album pre-orders.
Premiered on triple j's Short Fast Loud earlier this month, single 'The Great Affair' detangles Safe Hands from their 'hardcore' label of years past. They have embraced a dramatically different, refined dynamism, as explained in a statement of philosophy posted on the band's Facebook page earlier this year. 'THE GREAT AFFAIR'
“Don’t call me elder statesman just because the rest were smart enough to quit." Clocking up ten years as an independent act in a regional city writing a marginal genre of heavy music is wearying. On 'Tie Your Soul To Mine' all of these pressures and experiences and achievements have coalesced into an unfailingly mature, challenging and introspective record, it is Safe Hands' most exhilarating release yet. This is the sound of grown men with dynamic and long-term interests in heavy music, testing the boundaries. There are shades of La Dispute, The Hotelier, Touche Amore here, but it is a rock record core. It retains an undeniable Australian-ness, and seeks an antidote to violence and misogyny.
Safe Hands still possess the admirable, energetic approach to playing live that saw them play the resurgent Warped Tour and share stages with Converge, Norma Jean, La Dispute and Rolo Tomassi in recent years. The band have just wrapped a run alongside NSW grind trio Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf T-Shirt, and a support slot with PUP looms large. Album dates to follow.
A limited supply of 'Tie Your Soul To Mine' will also be available on vinyl LP. Lost Boy Records have 150 translucent blue and 100 black in the works. Pre-orders now available HERE.
